The second Test match between India and England for the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy starts on 2nd July at Edgbaston in Birmingham. England leads the five-test series by 1-0, and the Indian team would like to fight back and level the series. The Indian lower order did not fire in both innings, and the bowlers were average on the last day of the first test match.

Why is Edgbaston Challenging for Team India?

Edgbaston Cricket Ground was established in 1882 and has a capacity of 25,000 spectators. The ground has witnessed first-class and international cricket for the past 100 years. India played their first Test match at this venue way back in 1967. India has played eight Test matches here and lost seven, with one draw. India has never won a Test match at Edgbaston. India’s record has just been below par at this venue, as they have been all out on 15 out of 16 occasions, and only in 1986 did they manage a fourth innings score of 174 for 5.

On the contrary, England has a reasonably good record on this ground. England has won 30 test matches out of 56 played on this ground. They have the advantage of playing at home and knowing the ground, conditions and pitch better.

Can Rain Spoil the Show

The weather report is also not showing good signs; there won’t be full sunshine all throughout the test. The first day will be cloudy with rain and thunderstorms; only the second and third days have no predictions of rain. The forecast for the last two days is overcast conditions and likely rain.

Bumrah Likely to Miss the Second Test

Bumrah is likely to miss the upcoming test at Edgbaston. Bumrah is available for 3 Test matches due to workload management. Bumrah took five wickets in the first innings of the first test but was wicketless in the second innings. The number one-ranked bowler will be missed by Team India, as he is the spearhead of the Indian bowling attack.

Team India may be under pressure before the start of the second test, but with Rishabh Pant’s form along with a good batting lineup, the team can easily bounce back in any conditions. England played good competitive cricket to win the first test, and they look like a balanced side. We hope to see an interesting encounter of Test cricket between the two top teams.
