I grew up with the idea that mixing metals was almost a crime. It took me a long time to warm up to the idea. I have to admit, I do love mixing them up. My problem was that the stacks I made with silver and gold would end up looking like a mess, there was no balance whatsoever. Now, I feel qualified enough to guide you through how to mix gold and silver accessories step by step.

Steps-
A Transitional Piece
A transitional piece is an accessory that has both of the basic metals you want to mix. It makes the shift feel easier and more put-together. I honestly feel it is almost imperative to have at least one transitional piece in your stack.
Start Small with Subtle Mixes
When you’re just starting out, keeping the mix simple will give it a neat look. Something like wearing two thin chains, stacking two similar rings of different metals, or even a transitional earring.

Layer It Up
I always use the sandwich method for stacks. To put it simply, place one metal between two matching elements so the mix looks more planned, not random. For example, a silver ring worn between two gold rings. Or a silver necklace layered between two rose gold chains.
Play with Proportions and Length
There is no ideal length or proportion for mixing metals, which is what makes it more fun. You can experiment with different proportions of the two metals and really go ham. What I usually do is pick a base metal and a supporting metal, then wear about 70 percent of the base and 30 percent of the supporting metal. That is just a personal choice, and I have seen 50-50 proportions look amazing too.

Match Outfit Details
You should pay attention to the colors of zippers, borders, buckles, and embroidery, and try to complement or match them. Your accessories should feel like an extension of your outfit. When the metals do not go well with these details, the look can start to feel messy or even gaudy.
This is a wrap on my guide on mixing gold and silver accessories. At the end of the day, the best mix is the one that feels like you.
