There is a village in India where you can’t hold or touch anything at all. It looks very unusual but it is true: Malana is set in the Parvati Valley. Tourists can visit the place but can’t touch anything there, right from the villages to their belongings and even their homes. You can buy things, but they don’t accept money directly from your hand. You are supposed to keep the money down, and they will pick it up.
Where Is Malana Village Located?
The beautiful village is at an altitude of 8701 feet close to Malana River. Located in the Kulu district, Malana is 224 kilometres from Shimla. Deo Tibba and Chanderkhani peaks can be seen from the place.
What Is Malana Famous For?
Malana is a very scenic village adjoining cliffs, forests, and mountains, which makes it awesome for trekking and hiking. The residents in Malana assert to be blood of ‘Alexander the Great’ and they are famous for all the cultures and rules they follow.
Malana is renowned for Malana cream which is produced from cannabis plants found in Parvati Valley. It is high-quality and purest hashish. Although it is banned in India, people from all over the world come here for it.

Don’t Touch Anything
You will see signboards everywhere around the village that do not touch anything, even the walls. It is not that they are following intense cleanliness but they are backing their centuries old customs. Villagers believe that they are superior to everyone else and look down upon outside world.
The locals believe that they are clean Aryans and Alexander is their forefather. They are very strict about the law, so if someone touches them, they may charge fines or take a shower. All the people visiting should not touch them or their stuff, and respect the tradition they are following.

More people are visiting Malana than ever to witness the natural beauty and traditions of the local people and for Malana cream. Taxis are at hand from Kasol to Malana, and the stretch is 21 kilometres.
Rules of Malana
Locals love all the natural resources, and it’s banned to hammer nails into trees, and burning wood is also not allowed. Poaching is not permitted and no occurrence can be complained to the police as all the issues are resolved within the village.
Malana should be visited, but always regard the directives. It’s surely a magnificent experience to be at the place. You can’t stay in Malana but there are many places available nearby for a comfortable stay.
