2025 United States Grand Prix Weekend Preview

Here’s a preview of the 2025 United States Grand Prix, the 19th round of the Formula 1 calendar. It will be held at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, next weekend, starting Friday, the 17th of October. This 5.513 km track had its debut in the year 2012, and over 100,000 fans filled the circuit to see Lewis Hamilton claim his final win with McLaren before moving to Mercedes in 2013. The race will span 56 laps, covering a total distance of 308.728 km. Charles Leclerc still holds the fastest lap record here at 1:36.169, set back in 2019. This permanent circuit runs anticlockwise and has 20 turns.

F1 United States Grand Prix 2025 Key Points

The speciality of this track is that it has a little bit of everything and demands perfection. It’s got a great layout, a bunch of elevation change, and very exciting wheel-to-wheel action.
It has two DRS zones and main overtaking opportunities at the end of those straights. The race is a sprint weekend as always. The track is challenging because it involves a sudden but massive elevation change at hairpin turn 1, turns 3 to 6 are high downforce ‘S’ sections, and it also has low-speed apexes. For now, it’s unclear which tyres Pirelli will choose for the 2025 United States Grand Prix, but it’s most likely the same as last year: C2 as the hard, C3 as the medium, and C4 as the soft.

The circuit, shaped like a bat with its wings spread, is highly abrasive. Its layout was designed by Herman Tilke. There are parts of the Circuit of the Americas that are inspired by iconic corners at Silverstone, Hockenheim, Suzuka, and Istanbul. Another fun fact: 5 out of 12 drivers who started from pole position went on to win, which is about 40%. Lewis Hamilton has five wins here, and Max has three.

As for the weather, the wind conditions will change almost every session. There is little to no chance of rain during the entire weekend. The temperature will range from 24°C to 32°C.

That’s it for the preview of the 2025 United States Grand Prix. I’ll also cover major stories and news, so stay tuned!
