Bhooth Bangla: Change of Release Date
The opening day of the horror-comedy was switched from 10 April to 17th April. The huge success of Dhurandhar 2 led to the change of release date. Ekta Kapoor said that it’s the right time to release the film a few weeks after Dhurandhar 2.
She added By the time our film releases, Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic would have had a good run. At that time, some school exams will be over. It will also be a holiday period. My son’s IB board exams will finish in May.
She mentioned the most important thing is that families like to watch such films. We aim to bring a different kind of entertainment. Different types of films should be made for the audience.
When questioned on Akshay and Priyadarshan, she said, “This is a vintage Priyadarshan and Akshay sir film. When we wrote the script and narrated it to Akshay sir, he liked the story. We told him that we wanted Priyadarshan to direct it. He immediately agreed.” She added, “After that, we went to Priyadarshan sir with the script. He liked the story. He also made some changes.”

In an old interview with Bollywood Hungama, director Priyadarshan said that the movie has taken its inspiration from Vedas and the Mahabharat. He said, “It will be a new phase in the horror-comedy space. Bhooth Bangla is based on mythology and black magic. It is inspired by our Vedas and even the Mahabharat. But black magic is the dominant theme. It is a fun film. My audience which has leaned on me for entertainment for 42 years, won’t be disappointed. This is the kind of cinema audiences want me to make.”

In a recent interaction with the media he said about the timing of the release after Dhurandhar 2. He said, “Bhooth Bangla is meant for broader audience, including children and families. Woh film realism par hai, woh action hai, aur woh adult film hai. Ye family film hai. Hamare liye toh bohut achchi baat hai ki saari filmein chale, industry ke liye acchi baat hai.
He spoke about the success of Dhurandhar 2. He said, “I am happy that the film Dhurandhar is running so well and attracting such large audiences. The film has taken Indian cinema to a new level, which is very encouraging.
